Ok so Joe H has very kindly provided me with an animation of a wizard slinging a spell into the air. Using this, and the poses from it, I will concept and develop a look of a spell and pitch each stage to my group to get feedback. Here is what I came up with and have presented:
Ok, So there are a few comments about the break down I would like to make:
Crest: this will be the wave given off at the tip of the wand. almost like a shockwave/emp pulse/broken sound barrier kind of effect. This will be similar to the trails from the head.
Shrapnel: this will be the (anti)matter given off when the spell is fired and will lingure for a while
Reaction dropoff: this will be an electric-like connection that lasts up until a certin point, then it will break when a far proximity is reached.
Tail: the trail wich lasts even when the reaction dropoff has broken and is similar to a comets tail (but without any smoke like linguring
